*So WHEN did it change?" Josiah thought as he gently pushed the rough sand paper across the old wooden church beam.

He loved working with his hands on the church. He often found that it helped him to think better when his mind was troubled.

Right now his mind was greatly troubled by his changing feelings towards a certain gambler.

When he first met Ezra, he had found it hard not to like the man. With his green eyes and charming smile it was difficult for him to resist.

Soon he found himself treating Ezra like a son.

"So when DID it change?" He asked himself again. "When did my feelings change from treating Ezra like a son to ..." he paused, daring himself to actually say it out loud.

Was he falling in love with the man he had thought of as his son?

When did this happen? Was it wrong for him to love a man? When did his feelings for Ezra change from friendship to love?

Love is... He thought, *Love is a miracle of it's own doing and can happen when you least expect it."

"Am I in love with Ezra Standish?" He asked himself once more.

Josiah found himself slowly nodding his head yes.

Yes, He thought to himself. Yes, I am in love with Ezra.

"So when did it CHANGE?" He asked himself again. Maybe his feelings never changed at all, but instead had simply grown into something more than he had expected.

His feeling had grown into something truly beautiful. Something that had the potential to develop into something stronger and sweeter, or wither and die.

"So what happens now?" Josiah asked himself as he wiped his hands on a dirty cloth and stuck it back into his pocket.

His mind continued to ask the questions as the object of his thoughts appeared at the bottom of the stairs, and they walked to the saloon together.
