Second Chances: Taking
by Indigo Cat

Before you hit the reply button and ask for a sequel, I thought I would let you know that yes, there will be a sequel. Two actually. Couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to have Ezra think it was his fault that he didn't get any satisfaction or do one where Ezra thinks that Chris is a lousy lover. <EG> So I will do both of them. I won't say when cause that seems to jinx the story.

Chris Larabee took a long draw from his beer as he leaned back against the tree in front of his home. Images of his one night with Ezra Standish flashed through his mind. He remembered his driving urgency and need for the younger man. Ezra had barely escaped death that day. If JD hadn't seen the gunman taking aim at the unprotected undercover agent, Ezra would have died without Chris ever telling him how he felt.

He followed him to his home from the office. Ezra had let him in, surprised to find him standing on the front steps. He barely gave the younger agent time to shut the door before he pushed Ezra back against it, devouring his mouth in a kiss.

From that point he screwed up.

He had been blindsided by his need for Ezra. Within minutes, they were in Ezra's bedroom stripped of their clothing. In hindsight, he could see that he moved too fast. He wanted to bury himself within Ezra, assure himself that his love was still alive. He took pleasure that night without giving any in return. He fell asleep beside Ezra without saying the words he should have said as soon as he walked through the door.

I love you.

When he woke the next morning, the mattress was empty beside him, the Jag gone from the driveway. Ezra arrived later than usual at the office and managed to avoid him for the rest of the day. He stayed that night in the Dodge Ram in the street across from Ezra's condo waiting for him to return home.

He never did.

The next morning there was a new assignment. Ezra barely had enough time to grab a bag before he was on a plane to Los Angles to try to work his way into a network of arms dealers with ties to former members of the Soviet Army.

Without the team.

Without him.

Chris tilted the bottle back to drain the last swallows of beer. That was four months ago. The only contact with Ezra had been through the judge. If things went according to plan, Ezra would be back within the week.

Travis had already promised Chris that Ezra would be given two weeks off after all the dispositions and paperwork was completed. The older man didn't even blink an eyelash when he requested the same time off.

His cousin, Sam, had agreed to let him borrow her father's cabin since he was out of the country on assignment with the Air Force. He planned to drive with Ezra to the cabin and spend the time making up to Ezra for their first night together.

If Ezra would forgive him and agree to go with him. Give him a second chance to give pleasure as well as take.
