The Standish Tavern
by Erika Sanely
This is filk, so you have been warned. To anyone who doesn't know what filk is, it's basically when you change the words to a song to suit your own needs. The biggest warning here I guess is that it's a Barry Manilow song - "Copacabana". But I figure, if you don't like Barry's work, you'll appreciate me taking liberties with it, and if you do like Barry's work, and you like Ezra, then you've come to the right place! <g>
His name was Ezra, he was a conman
With a gold tooth in his head, and a jacket that was red.
He would play poker, with all the cowboys,
And while Inez tended the saloon, he made all the men there swoon
And with his sexy Southern drawl,
They were at his beck and call
He was young and he had money
Who could ask for more?
At the Tavern, the Standish Tavern
The cleanest bar in that backwater.
The Tavern, The Standish Tavern
Whiskey and Passion are always in fashion
At the Tavern...he craved for love.
His name was Bucklin, he had a moustache
As he sat down in a chair, he saw Ezra sitting there.
When Ezra finished, Buck nodded to him
Ezra grinned as a reply, oh how he lusted for the guy.
And up the stairs they flew, their shirts got torn in two
There was a moan and a kiss and a love bite
But just who fucked who?
At the Tavern, the Standish Tavern
The cleanest bar in that backwater
The Tavern, The Standish Tavern
Whiskey and Passion are always in fashion
At the Tavern...he found his love.
(Tavern.. the Standish Tavern)
(Tavern.. the Standish Tavern)(Buck and Ez kissing)
(Talking hanky-panky Buck is so lanky)
(Whiskey and Passion always is fash-shun)
His name is Ezra, he was a conman
And now the thirty days have past, and a lawman he is cast
Then came his mother, she's like no other
And they had a little war,
Like a thousand times before
And of course she won,
She really knows her son
He lost his bar and his life's dream,
But he had his Buck!
At the Tavern, the Standish Tavern
The cleanest bar in this backwater
The Tavern, The Standish Tavern
Whiskey and Passion are always in fashion
At the Tavern... there you'll find love.
